Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World PDF Print E-mail

Are you a thrill ride fan? Think you've ridden the fastest, most exhilarating ride in Walt Disney World? If you haven't been sitting inside a 600-horsepower NASCAR-style stock car traveling at 145 MPH around a real racetrack inside Walt Disney World, then haven't as yet, and you're missing something special.

I recently had the opportunity to ride shotgun in one of these vehicles at the Walt Disney World Speedway, located right next to the Magic Kingdom parking lot, and all I can say is... WOW!

Let me first say that I am NOT a racing fan. I've never seen a race and wouldn't be able to tell Dale Earnhardt form Dale Evans, but having passed the speedway countless times and heard these mammoth machines racing around the track, I had to give it a try.

Since 1997, the track operates year-round, weather permitting and offers both ride-along and driving experiences. Ride-Alongs are available on a first come, first serve basis for guests ages 14 and older, and reservations are not required, as they welcome walk-ups to the track.

If you want the full experience, you can also get behind the wheel and experience the thrill first-hand.You can choose from experiences that range from an 8-lap program to ones that include 30 laps of heart-pounding speed (which may be for that person who's considering doing this NASCAR thing full-time).

This is truly amazing experience, and one that I would recommend for thrill ride fans, racing fans, or even just someone who's looking to do something special, or thinks they've seen and done it all in Walt Disney World.
