A Space Mountain Tribute PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 19 November 2009 09:03

The "new" Space Mountain in Walt Disney World, set to open officially on November 22, 2009 after a lengthy refurbishment, is filled with many "hidden treasures" and subtle tributes to Imagineers, Walt Disney World history, and even extinct attractions. And some of those references are about Space Mountain itself, while others pay homage to extinct attractions from elsewhere in the Disney Parks.

One of many that I spotted during a "soft opening" last week was this one, which pays silent tribute to a classic extinct attraction from Epcot - Horizons.

mesa-verde

This sticker is seen on some futuristic luggage in the post-show queue area. "Mesa Verde, the most advanced desert reclamation complex in the western hemisphere, invites you to explore its wide range of career possibilities. Mag-LEV express service to Mesa Verde leaves every thirty minutes." - Horizons (Futureport / queue)

This is but one of many tributes scattered throughout the attraction and queue. Stay tuned for more, and see how many you can find!
